Working from home has become routine for many of us. As companies rely on virtual meetings to continue day-to-day operations, more of us work in our home offices and online. So, what do you do to prepare for your virtual meetings? I know I have enjoyed being able to wear my comfy clothes daily. And there are many funny stories about people wearing professional garments on the top and pyjamas below. Working from home does have its advantages.
To get yourself ready for Zoom meetings, here are some suggestions to look fresh and awake without applying heavy makeup. Continuing with our daily skincare is essential, but you may be forgoing makeup. That is not a bad thing. I know from personal experience if I am going online with other professionals, I like to have a light, day makeup applied. The other reason is that when it comes time for a break, I want to get outside for a walk and some fresh air, my makeup has an SPF, so I’m good to go.
Before I begin the application, always remember that lighting is essential for your Zoom call. Natural light is the best. To be sitting in front of a window will help. I have a desktop ring light that I use. In the photos, you can see mine before and after makeup application. I will share how I achieved this look and how you can look fresh in just 10 minutes.
First, start with your skin freshly cleansed and moisturized. A hydrating moisturizer and vitamin C serum will have your skin glowing. Hydration is vital, primarily through the dry winter months. Once you’ve cleansed and moisturized, proceed with an application of Jane Iredale Smooth Affair primer. A pea-sized amount will work. This light gel will nourish your skin and minimize the appearance of pores. Next, apply Jane Iredale Dream Tint, which is a tinted moisturizer with an SPF of 15. This product comes in various shades so it can be colour matched to your skin tone. My shade is Medium Light. Dream Tint will provide enough coverage to give your skin a smooth, even glow.
For my cheeks, I applied Jane Iredale pure pressed blush in Queen Bee. It gives my cheeks a rosy glow, and I blended it around the perimeter of my face, forehead and jawline to provide me with a little more colour. Next, I applied Jane Iredale Circle/Delete 1 to the undereye area. If you are prone to allergies, like me, and work on a computer every day, it can take its toll on the eye area. Eyes can look dark, tired and puffy. Circle/Delete is my go-to for those days the circles are a little more prominent. It’s a conditioner and concealer all in one. The darker side minimizes the blue, and the lighter side highlights the eye area nicely. To complete the eyes, I added two coats of Jane Iredale Lengthening Mascara in Navy. This mascara is perfect for sensitive eyes (which I have), and the navy gives them a dramatic look without being too dark for my fair skin tone.
Let’s talk about brows next. As we age, or from over tweezing, brows can naturally start to thin out. I highly recommend finding a product that you like to use to add colour and shape to them. When eyebrows are coloured, shaped and defined, they frame your eyes and pull your makeup look together. I applied the Jane Iredale retractable eyebrow pencil in Medium Brunette. There are several colours available and other options such as brow gel and brow powders, so it is easy to find your perfect product and colour. Having your eyebrows defined is essential.
Lastly, for the lips, hydration is a must. Chapped lips are my nemesis. I’m always applying hydrating products to my lips year-round. For this blog post, I used Jane Iredale lip pencil in Pink and Jane Iredale Lip Drink in Pout, which is relatively sheer with a hint of neutral light pink in it. And the best part, Lip Drink has an SPF of 15.
Now your virtual meeting makeup is on. Grab that coffee and let the virtual meeting begin!
All of the products in this blog are from the Jane Iredale Mineral Makeup line. I was introduced to this makeup line a few years ago and was instantly impressed. I was looking for a makeup line that didn’t cause sensitivity or make my dry skin look even dryer. I learned that it is mineral-based, completely chemical-free, and Leaping Bunny certified and cruelty-free. This line uses the highest quality mineral ingredients. It contains skincare ingredients and offers many options for coverage and applications. Our clients expressed to us that finding a makeup line that was a healthy option and complimented all skin types, including mature skin, was what they have been wanting. When we introduced Jane Iredale to our spa clients, their excitement over the quality, ease of use, multiple options, and how it felt on the skin confirmed our choice in Jane Iredale’s products and values.
